Domestic Violence Statistics
The
National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) recently conducted a
nationwide one-day survey of domestic violence shelters to gauge the
scope of the problem.
In One Day:
- Over 30,000 victims were sheltered by local domestic violence programs
- Another 30,000 received non-residential support services
- Over 21,000 hotline calls were answered. This averages to more than 14 calls per minute
- Nearly 9,000 requests for services were unmet due to a lack of resources
